100 blankets
(Thanks to your generous donations we were able to purchase the fleece needed to make the 9 more blankets we needed to reach our goal. Thank You!!)
93 hats
100 scarves
6 tote bags
3 ear muffs/headbands
1 shawl
1 baby cocoon
1 facial warmer/beard
These numbers only include what we have here. We are expecting a shipment of hats and scarves from a friend in Virginia next week that will add to these numbers. We also have local friends who are continuing to make items, and we are still making items until October 1. So, we know for sure that by our deadline we will have met and/or exceeded our goal of 100 of each item. Woo Hoo!!!
We are so grateful for your generosity and support over the last few months. Because of you, we have been able to achieve our goals, and we have done it in record time (less than 5 months)!
As you know, our current project is focused on helping the homeless/blanket ministry of Kris Bridgman in Bowling Green, Kentucky. We will travel there October 12th to deliver and help distribute the items made/donated, and we are so excited!! We will assemble gift bags to give to those we meet there, each of which will include a hat, scarf, and blanket. Our awesome friend, Monique Zimmer, made gift tags for us to put on the bags.
While there, we will be interviewed by Christian Family Radio and will get to share our story which will hopefully inspire others. Additionally, we will be sharing our story with their local newspaper. We'll be sure to take lots of pictures and keep you informed of everything we get to be a part of there, and when we reach our deadline, we will give you our final totals.
With this project quickly coming to a close, we have been praying and thinking about the future and looking for an opportunity in our own community. We don't want to give it away just yet because we are still in the very early stages of planning, but we will give you a hint: if you love babies (who doesn't?!) you're going to love this one and want to get involved!!
We just want to say thank you again to all of you who have donated and prayed and made items and followed our story. We are so grateful that we have the opportunity to help others, and we want to do more! God has blessed us so much and we want to share His light and hope with others. It doesn't matter who you are or where you are, God will use you if you're willing. We didn't know where to go or what to do or how to get started when Maddie first shared her idea, but God has helped us through every step of the process and has opened doors for us and given us opportunities we never could have dreamed of. We are excited about the future of the Bundle Up Club and can't what to see what miracles God will do!
This project has been a blessing to me. It's given me a goal for the summer to make and send what I could for delivery in Oct. I thank you girls and your mom for your giving inspiration. It has been wonderful to do something for others who a less fortunate than I am. I'm looking forward to what you have up your sleeve next - if it's for babies, you've come to the right person :-)
